                                                                   CHOPAKA LAKE

May 20, 2010
Lake is crowed but with so much fish, it is worth the drive.  The lake is real busy but with lots of rainbows and cut throats to catch, ranging in the 13"-23" range, it is worth it.  Try the mouth of the lake for cutties.  Dry flies-any kind but try May Flies.  For large browns, try Callibaetis bugs; late afternoon try Emergers size 16-20; Dansels in mid day and after 10pm try Chronomids  Fish deep.

Chopaka:
What a great lake to fish if you like crowds on the water and also in the camp ground the was 247 boats there
5/30/10. So we headed back down and fished Blue. And came back on 6/2/10 much better some world class dry fly fishing that took off at and lasted about an hour. Just across from the boat ramp. To the west end along the steep rocks is where most of the big fish seem to be. I hooked 3 that were over 20+ and landing 1 at 23"

Water temp. 55
Is still fishing great with the main hatch in the early afternoon. But if you want to fish early I head to the west side of the lake and fish the deeper water along the edge with a mini leach or a olive matuka cast to the shore and strip in slow. By 11, I’m headed back to the middle of the lake and working a damsel nymph. In along the weeds a cross from the boat ramp. Or chronie on the east side in the shallow.

Aeneas Lake
(Tonasket area)

early 7am to 11am or until the winds kick up, try black or red Chronomids sizes 14-16 or Snowcones brown with gold band or black with rend band.  Dansels work all day, green and brown sizes 14-16.

June 8, 2010
is producing some fine rainbows in the 14 to 18" range , but if you are lucky enough you may still be able to hook into a few of  the large bows and maybe a huge brown there is still some in there.
The wind is still picking up in the late morning and doesn't drop off until around the night bit is great on the north end.

                                                                       Water temp. 58
We got there early and the water looked like a jacuzzi rings everywhere, tied on a emerger and for about 45min. We had tight lines almost every cast. All running 14 to 16 it was hard to get away from the lunch. We worked are way around to the north end pulling mini leaches and damsels where we set up chronies in 20 to 25 ft. of water and nailed fish until the wind picked up around 11. Headed into town and had some lunch , and then hit Washburn Lake had a good time there but the fish are smaller. (Tiger and Cutthroat trout)
